    • Botswana has a subtropical desert climate. Hot, rainy summers (November to March) and sunny, cool winters (May to August). During winter, exceptionally cold spells can occur.
    • Wildlife viewing in the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park is best from May to September, during the dry season. The best birding months are from November to March when the Delta is brimming with migratory birds.

    Language & Currency

    • English and Tswana are the official languages of Botswana. Several other languages, such as Bantu languages, are also spoken in Botswana.
    • The Botswana pula is made up of 100 thebe. Credit cards are generally accepted at the large international hotels; however, the smaller remote lodges typically accept cash only. We recommend you carry enough money to cover the costs of any additional services. US dollars are often accepted, smaller denominations are recommended. Access to cash machines is available in major towns. Most common foreign currencies can typically be exchanged at major banks and foreign exchange bureaus.

    Visa & Access

    • Most foreign nationals do not require a visa for entry to Botswana for stays up to 30 days. Please check with your local Botswana Embassy or our travel team for further information.
    • Botswana has three international airports; Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone (GBE), Maun Airport (MUB) and Kasane Airport (BBK).

    Health

At least 6-8 weeks before departure, please visit your local health care provider or travel clinic for any vaccination requirements and to discuss any other potential health risks, such as malaria (where applicable). All travellers should ensure they have a valid travel insurance policy in place.

For any further questions on Botswana or your holiday, please reach out to our friendly travel team who are ready to assist with any information you require.
